The Kent, Surrey, Sussex (KSS) Air Ambulance charity has been awarded a £10,000 grant by the F. A. Alford Charitable Trust – established by Frederick Alford, founder of the Alford Bros dealership in Folkestone.

KSS provides airborne support for Kent, Surrey and East and West Sussex. Last year, they responded to 3224 incidents (30% of which were road traffic collisions) making 2022 the busiest year in the organisation’s 33-year history.

“On behalf of everyone at KSS, I want to convey heartfelt thanks to the F. A. Alford Charitable Trust for this generous grant,” said Dan Knight, Head of Philanthropy at KSS. “We rely on the support we receive from our communities and we could not do what we do without you.”

It costs £45,000 per day to keep the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service running in the region, equivalent to £16.6m per year – 87% of which comes from generous supporters.

Mark Ansell from the F. A. Alford Charitable Trust, added: “KSS has provided a life-saving service to so many of our motorcyclist customers and friends over the years that we would like to support the service for the future.”
