A charity started in memory of a talented young motocrosser who lost his life at a British Youth Championship meeting in 2021 has now donated £101,000 to Air Ambulances UK – who support the work carried out by the airborne groups across the entire UK.

The Jude Morris Racing Foundation was set up by the Morris family and a number of trustees following Jude’s untimely death in Duns, Scotland aged 17. It aims to support talented young riders entering the sport and donates 20% of all money raised to Air Ambulances UK.

“This is a very proud day for us,” Jude’s dad, Mark Morris said. “It’s a significant number and a target we were keen to reach. Thank you to everyone that has supported us.”

Money has been raised in a number of ways, including the sale of merchandise, and donations at the Jude Morris Racing Foundation website.

Mark continued: “Seeing the JMR101 all around the paddock has been heart-warming, as has knowing that despite a tragic accident we can create a legacy for Jude, who is in our thoughts every minute of every day.”

Air Ambulances UK have now created a Jude Morris Innovation and Development Fund, which will support projects costing up to £10,000. These will go on to help the life-saving work carried out by Air Ambulance groups, which can often involve motorcycle riders requiring vital treatment.

Air Ambulances UK Head of Income Generation, Emma Carter, said: “Reaching £101,000 raised in celebration of Jude’s life is a significant milestone.

“Not only is it an astounding amount raised but it is also Jude’s racing number, making it all the more special. The Jude Morris Innovation and Development Fund has been set up to allow air ambulance charities to develop and innovate and ultimately save even more lives across the UK.

“We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of the Morris family, the Jude Morris Racing Foundation, and the motocross community,” she continued.
