Delays to bike tests: Examiners in some areas set to strike in April

1 of 1

Motorcycle examiners will take industrial action this month, forcing many riders to reschedule their motorcycle tests.

The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union are striking over pay, pensions, jobs and redundancy terms. Compulsory Basic Training is not affected and the disruption will not affect riders taking tests with private test providers.

The strikes are planned in the north-east of England and Scotland on April 17 and 18; the north-west and Yorkshire on April 20 and 21; east and west midlands and parts of London on April 24 and 25 and London, south-east and south-west England and Wales on April 27 and 28.

A full list of the affected test centres can be found on the Government website and it’s best to check as not all examiners are PCS union members and even those who are may choose not to strike.

The DVSA say that you should go to your driving test appointment as planned, even if it’s on the date of strike action, unless they contact you and tell you otherwise. They will automatically rebook your test for you if it cannot go ahead because of the strike action.
