The largest collection of Britten motorcycles in the world has gone on display in New Zealand, with fans of the engineering genius able to get up close with the iconic V1000 racer alongside a number of other builds.

The display pays tribute to the work of Kiwi designer John Britten and can be found at Classic Motorcycle Mecca, in Invercargill. Other bikes on display include The Precursor – a V-twin build that finished second at Daytona 1991 – and the Aero-D-Zero – which won the 1988 and 1990 BEARS speed trials.

“We feel privileged to have been asked to display this bike in our collection by its owner, and we know our guests will absolutely love it,” museum director Joc O’Donnell said.

“Our team has worked incredibly hard to create a new-look display to showcase one of New Zealand’s all-time greats in the motorcycling world.

“John Britten was a creative genius and a backyard visionary, and his legacy is one we’re very excited to share with everybody heading to Invercargill for the Burt Munro Challenge 2023.”
