New Ducati Hypermotard 796 first ride!

1 of 1

The new Ducati Hypermotard 796 is a smaller version of the Hypermotard 1100, with an all-new engine and a lighter, lower chassis aimed at new riders.

Michael Neeves is currently testing the bike in Bologna, here are his first impressions.

“This is a mid-range version of the Hypermotard 1100 using an engine derived from the Monster 696.

“This entry level 81bhp, 803cc Hypermotard has been created to appeal to newer riders who are keen to become part of the Ducatisti.

“It has a 20mm lower seat which makes it easier to get on with for shorter riders and makes it a great town bike, which is also thanks to the smooth power delivery, light clutch action and friendly power.

“This Hypermotard is easier to ride than it’s bigger brother and is just as much fun.

“One of the highlights of this package for me is the slipper clutch, which comes as standard, this smoothes corner entries when shifting down through the gears. I think all Ducatis should have one.”

Price is £7195 or £6995 for the matt black version. Read MCN’s full report in the October 14 issue.
