First ride: New Indians

Indian has launched three new variants of the Chief – an all-new 1819cc V-twin which MCN has been riding around the Sturgis motorcycle rally in America.

After around 50 miles split between two of the three available versions MCN’s Andy Downes said: “All of the bikes look fantastic in the metal with beautiful attention to detail and high quality build quality.

“Riding them has been a revelation in terms of the deft handling which contrasts with some of the bigger cruisers available with great power from the engine.

“These are clearly not lightweight sports bikes but they can still entertain and the brakes – with standard ABS – are more than a match for the performance.

“The big Chieftain is the faired bagger and has a load of technology including a radio, Bluetooth and all of the bikes have cruise control.”
