First ride: Mash Roadstar 400

1 of 1

Mash is the newest motorcycle brand to hit the UK. Dreamt up and styled in France, made in China and now trickling into UK dealers its first offering is a retro single that reminds of Yamaha’s revived SR400 but for £1000 less.

But how does it match up? MCN Guest Tester Peter Henshaw has been testing it and his full report is in this week’s MCN, out now.

“The engine is a 398cc version of the old Honda XBR – an air-cooled four-valve single. There’s a single front disc brake, drum rear and simple tubular steel frame. Add spoked wheels, chrome mudguards, ribbed seat and a hundred other period details, and it really does look the part.

“It’s also as easy to ride as a 125 commuter and I’d be happy to commute on one.”
