Insight: Jake Dixon's down, but not out!

Jake Dixon’s British Grand Prix ended in heartache as a first lap crash dashed his hopes of repeating the home podium from a year ago.

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom in the Englishman’s camp at close of play on Sunday as it emerged he is in the running for shot at MotoGP next year.

MCN understands Dixon is being considered for the second seat in the Gresini Ducati squad for 2024 alongside Alex Marquez, with his recent form and Dorna’s desire to have a Brit in the premier class among the factors behind the potential step up.

The 27-year old had several options on the table to remain in Moto2. But Dixon has never hidden his desire to compete in the premier class next year, telling MCN before the Silverstone weekend: “We’ve just got to see how the next few weeks pan out and hope for the best that I do get a MotoGP ride.”
