Workshop: Be a stud-meister

2

Don’t allow broken studs and bolts to stop you in your DIY tracks – here’s how to sort it yourself…

  1. Get the right tools for the job

When you are working on an engine there are often times when you’ll need to remove studs. These will vary in size and often have limited access, so in a lot of cases it’ll be much easier to have the engine/part on a bench. When it comes to removing a stud you’ll need a stud extractor. This set is ideal as it has four sizes: 6 ,8, 10 and 12mm, priced at just under £25.

2. Apply the pressure (and heat!)
