Kawasaki revives the Z1000

1 of 1

Inside the latest issue off MCN, out August 28, we’ve got the first in-the-metal pictures of Kawasaki’s new muscle bike, the Z1000.

The Z1000 name is a nod to Kawasaki’s classic 70s machine, but there’s nothing retro about the latest incarnation.

For more pictures and details on the new Z1000 see the new MCN, but here’s what you can expect when the bike is released in March 2003.

It’s a bold streetfighter design, aimed straight at the rather more conventional Yamaha Fazer 1000 and Hornet 900. It features a tubular steel chassis, wrapped around a de-tuned ZX-9R motor boosted to 935cc.

It comes in a range of wild colours and polished rims are standard, as are the unique dual over-and-under pipes.

It’s expected to retail for around £7000.
