Harley for beginners

1 of 1

Harley is bringing a new version of the Sportster 883 to the UK. The 883L is aimed at smaller and “novice” riders. The ‘L’ stands for Low – not Learner.

The seat height is just 66cm – the lowest Sportster yet. The front and rear suspension is lowered and re-tuned too. Harley promises handling as “precise” as the standard Sportster.

The solo seat is placed further forward and polished and widened handlebars are pulled back to make the bike more comfortable for shorter riders and easier to control for novices.

Mid-mounted foot controls add to the confidence and, Harley says, lifting the Sportster Low off its sidestand is easy for anyone

Torquey V-twin power comes from a rubber-mounted 883cc XL Evolution engine with improved cooling, high-flow cylinder heads, lighter pistons and connecting rods.

It’s available in four colour schemes and will make its UK debut at the NEC Bike Show which opens to the public on November 5, 2004.
