Bimota’s new DB5 Mille has been presented with the Munich Show’s “Motorcycle Design Award” in the supersport category.

Designer Sergio Robbiano’s use of a composite trellis swingarm caught the eye.

Bimota is claiming the bike was also voted the “most beautiful bike of the show,” by visitors.

But Yamaha’s MT-01 won the Motorcycle Design Association’s Motorcycle Design Trophy as the best new bike of 2005 while KTM’s RC8 Venom won the open class, the Rieju RS2 Matrix was the best sub-200cc bike and the Derbi GP1 claimed the best scooter prize. Honda’s Griffon won best concept bike.
