Bajaj plans to go global

Indian motorcycle and scooter firm Bajaj has announced plans to expand with new bike and scooter models, plus a tie-up with Kawasaki.

The firm will launch a new budget bike alongside the recent 125cc Discover model, and in addition, there will be a complete revamp of the scooter range for 2006, with two completely new models.

Meanwhile a joint research and development effort is under with kawasaki to produce a bike much bigger than the current 180cc staples. The machine is expected to take two years for development, with Bajaj hoping Kawasaki will wish to use it for global markets, rather than just India.
