More new Harleys for '06

Harley-Davidson has released the details for the retro FXDBI Street Bob, the lower XL Sportster 1200L, and the limited-production FXDI 35th Anniversary Super Glide for 2006.

The Street Bob and Super Glide are part of the Dyna range which has been re-engineered for 2006, with a new six-speed Cruise Drive transmission, new frames, new 49mm forks and a wider 160mm rear tyre.

The firm is also discontuing the FXDXI Dyna Super Glide Sport for 2006.

The FXDBI Street Bob is inspired by the post-World War 2 bobber movement, and junks any parts not legally required, such as a passenger set and pillion pegs. With a seat height of 655mm, mini ape hanger handlebars, a wrap-around rear fender and chrome-laced wheels, it’s a retro harley that doesn’t require you to unbolt lots of unneccessary parts. A new black finish has been applied to the battery box, console, and belt guard, and four colour choices include a new ‘Black Denim’ option.

The FXDI 35th Anniversary was first revealed in MCN in July, and pays homage to the oringial 1971 Super Glide designed by Willie G Davidson with Glacier White pearl paint, a metal emblem Number One logo on the tank, special emblems and a ribbed two-up seat. Just 3,500 are being produced.

The XL Sportser 1200L has a seat height of 667mm, 46mm lower than the XL Sportser 1200R, with the handlebar grips 25mm closer to the rider and a new two-up ‘Badlander’ seat. With mid-mount controls it should prove more suited to shorter and more diminutive riders.

It also has a black powder-coated 1200cc XL Evolution engine, the new transmission for all 2006 Sportsters, and a clutch which is easier to use. Eight colour options are available, with three unique two-tone paint schemes, and all feature a unique 3-D fuel tank graphic.
