New Yamaha motocrossers unveiled

Yamaha has just unveiled its revised 2009 motocross motorcycle range. The four-stroke YZ250F and YZ450F gain a new lighter swingarm and rear wheel hub, a larger and more rigid rear wheel spindle and redesigned spokes.

The 450 has a revised ignition curve and a matt black cylinder head cover, and the 250 motor benefits from lighter clutch actuation.

Base suspension setup has also been revised on both motorcycles and the top yoke now has the option of two mounting positions for the bar clamps. The seat is made from a new material claimed to trap less dirt in the seams and crevices on the surface.

The clutch lever is now a shorty design with a span adjuster. Colours are blue speed block or white speed block with black wheel rims.

The two-stroke YZ125 and YZ250 keep the same engine for the 2009 season, with only minor changes carried across from the four-strokes.

New lighter wheel rims, the newer seat material, new graphics, a gold chain and a new brake hose bracket are the extent of the changes – the overall design stays the same as development slows on the two-strokes.
