Ducati unveiled a new GT1000 Touring at yesterday’s Cologne Show. The new bike, based on the standard Sport Classic GT1000 features a high screen and luggage rack. No prices are yet available.

Based on the GT1000 and sporting, it is black with a white stripe, and comes pre-equipped with 70's style chromed front and rear fenders, chrome passenger grab-rail and a journey-useful screen. The bike is powered by the Desmo 1000 dual spark engine.

Speaking at the firm’s launch where they also officially unveiled the new Ducati Monster 1100 and Monster 1100S (as tested by MCN recently), the firm’s boss also committed to giving away a free back protector to every person who buys a new Ducati in Europe.

Gabriele Del Torchio said: “Ducati, along with its sales networks, is a strong believer in safety, something that we always have in mind when developing the new bikes, the technical clothing and protections.

"In order to consolidate this effort, we have decided that, from today, every bike that we sell in Europe will come with a high quality back protector, that not only bears the correct standards of homologation but also raises the safety levels for all of the Ducatisti.”
