2010 Yamaha Super Tenere spy pictures

MCN has obtained leaked spy images showing the new 2010 Yamaha Super Tenere in production form for the first time.

Greek website motorsite.gr was given the set of three images by a mystery Yamaha insider, who took pictures of a scale model designed to show the bike’s design before a completed production machine was available.

Yes, it’s made of plastic – but in every other respect, it’s an accurate representation of the real Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 due to be officially released in 2010.

The cloth-wrapped concept bike from the Tokyo show was accompanied by a presentation revealing that the production bike is around 1200cc in capacity and is fitted with traction control.

Three-stage ABS will feature, and the concept models shaft drive is also seen on the bike in our new spy shots.

Styling is very similar to the current on/off road Yamaha XT660Z Tenere, indicating Yamaha is aiming to compete more directly with the BMW R1200GS rather than the more road-orientated Ducati Multistrada 1200.

Comfort looks to be good – a deep and spacious dual seat is obvious.

Full details in this week’s MCN, on sale Wednesday December 9.
