Aprilia sports 600s on the cards?

The Piaggio group, which owns Aprilia, Gilera and Derbi has told investors it intends to develop a range of sports bikes with mid-sized engines for the American market, MCN can reveal.

The Italian manufacturer announced its intentions in its 2009-2012 Strategic Plan. But it has yet to reveal any concrete details about the bikes. However, rumours suggest the bikes will carry an Aprilia badge.   

It simply said: “The Group intends to work on the growth of different brand names, also through the development of sport bikes with mid-sized engines.”
