New MV Agusta F3-based ‘Hypermotard’ in the works

MV Agusta F3 designer Morton says a third F3-based bike – in addition to the expected naked Brutale variant, styled by an Italian colleague – is in the works. He tells MCN: “Since concluding the F3, I have been assigned to the Street Motard project. It’s an entirely new category of motorcycle for us so I have had more freedom than previous ‘evolutionary’ projects like the new F4. I can’t wait for it to come to fruition”.

Asked how it compares to the class-defining Ducati Hypermotard Morton said: “I think the Hypermotard is a great road bike. It’s compact and has a confident, commanding riding position that is great for crazy (Italian) traffic conditions. I think it’s one of the most sigificant bikes to reflect the transition from uncompromising sports bikes to more practical, ‘unthreatening’ two wheeled transport.

“Any bike to bear the MV Agusta badge on the fuel tank the bike has to be exceptional, not just OK. If the values that we see as essential for MV Agusta are appreciated by passionate motorcyclists, then hopefully our bikewill find its way to centre-stage. It will be a thoroughbred, and in many respects be just as focused and exceptional as the F3, just within a more usable package.”
