Brabus back for more: Final edition of KTM Super Duke R-based 1300 R ‘Masterpiece’

Brabus have announced a third and, they claim, final limited edition run of their KTM Super Duke R-based 1300 R. The 1300 R Masterpiece Edition will be restricted to just 50 individually numbered examples, will come in two colours, this time ‘Onyx Black’ or ‘Diamond White’, both with gold accents, and features other subtle styling updates.

For those who don’t remember the original Brabus 1300 R, it was a £36,999 KTM 1290 Super Duke-based, limited edition special built by the usually car-focused German performance house.

Originally unveiled in February 2022, the first 1300 R came in red or black, and was limited to just 154 machines which reportedly sold out in minutes via KTM’s online store.

In response, a second run of updated bikes, the 1300 R ‘Edition 23’, was announced a year later, in February 2023. This time 290 individually numbered examples were built, in ‘Super Black’ of ‘Stealth Grey’, and again all sold out quickly.

Apart from colour differences and a revised seat, both editions were virtually identical, being based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo’s 177bhp 1301cc V-twin engine, tubular steel chassis and WP semi-active suspension.

Key differences included the Brabus’ styling and carbon-fibre bodywork, round LED headlight, forged aluminium wheels, twin exit silencer and miscellaneous CNC-machined aluminium parts.

The new Brabus will cost an eye-watering £37,000 and successful buyers also get an indoor bike cover, special Brabus ‘exhibition’ carpet, a bespoke carbon-fibre key box, and an exclusive tour of the Brabus company premises in Bottrop, Germany.

Ten lucky buyers will also get tickets to the Brabus Signature Night event to be held next year.
