230hp Aprilia RSV4 XTrenta pays tribute to three decades of racing success

Aprilia are celebrating 30 years since their first World Championship title with a new 100-run version of their RSV4 Factory superbike.

Called the RSV4 XTrenta, it follows the Noale firm’s 2019 RSV4 X and Tuono X, as a track-only missile boasting a claimed 230hp (226.9bhp), carbon bodywork, and even the promise of a full titanium exhaust mimicking their RS-GP MotoGP bike on the way.

Available online from September 6 at €50,000 (circa £43,245) excluding VAT, the special superbikes feature carbon fibre bodywork produced by Modena firm, PAN Compositi using what Aprilia claim to be the same processes as those used on their grand prix bikes.

Painted in a replica of their 1992 125GP championship-winning livery, it was also recently teased by Lorenzo Savadori in the Austrian round of the MotoGP.

But that’s not all, there are also new front and rear wings – plus the firm’s ‘under wing’ design on the swingarm – technology first seen on GP grids back in 2019.

The result is a claimed 25% increase in aerodynamic load and 4% reduction in drag. Great for pitlane bingo, but unlikely to be felt by your average rider around Snetterton.

What’s more likely to be felt is the 226.9bhp liquid cooled V4, which builds on the standard road bike’s measly 214bhp.

This has been achieved via a new titanium and carbon exhaust system built by SC-Project. There’s also a new air filter and radiators produced by Taleo Tecnoracing, who are no strangers to building components for world championship grids.

Helping to keep all that power on the straight and narrow is a Magneti Marelli control unit, plus an electronic suite managed by a set of JetPrime switches.

As far as handling’s concerned, you also get Öhlins suspension modified by Italian suspension firm Andreani in collaboration with Aprilia MotoGP engineers. Braking is also supplied by hefty Brembo GP4-MS billet monobloc calipers and 330mm discs, with Pirelli Diablo SBK slick tyres wrapping round the forged magnesium Marchesini rims.
