Husky go supermoto: Get set for on-track hooliganism with new £11,249 FS450

1 of 2

Husqvarna have whipped the covers off their latest competition-ready FS450 supermoto model, complete with a new look and grippier seat.

The £11,249 short circuit star is finished in typically Husky grey, white, and yellow and is powered by a SOHC 449.9cc four-stroke single cylinder engine weighing just 26.8kg. Power and torque figures are undisclosed, but you can expect it to be quick – thanks to a claimed weight without fuel of 107.6kg.

With the bike drinking from a 7.2-litre fuel tank, riders can choose from electronic assistance including multiple throttle maps, launch control, traction control, and a quickshifter for going up the gearbox.

The minimalist bodywork gets only minor colouring tweaks over last year’s bike – doing away with the blue surrounding the front number board and fork covers, with the new one-piece grey seat providing added grip under hard acceleration.

Unlike the cheaper, more rounded £9799 Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, the FS450 is not road legal (one of the reasons it can be so light) and features a 16.5in front and 17in rear spoked Alpina wheels wrapped in Metzeler Racetec SM K1 tyres. These are matched to Brembo stoppers, with a four-piston radially mounted caliper and 310mm disc up front, and a single piston/ 220mm set-up on the rear.

Suspension comes courtesy of WP – with 48mm XACT forks. At the rear, the XACT monoshock gets 266mm of travel – plus manual rebound, high- and low-speed compression damping adjustment.
