Indian FTR gets MX treatment for ultra-rare special edition

US brand Indian Motorcycle has announced a new, limited-edition version of their FTR1200 V-twin street tracker for 2024 along with a similarly limited-edition new bagger, the Challenger Elite.

The simply named ‘FTR x 100% R Carbon’, which sounds more like a suggested strong password than a street bike, is a result of a collaboration with American motocross brand 100%.

Based on the existing top spec, Öhlins-equipped FTR R Carbon version of the flat-track-styled, 1203cc V-twin, the ‘by 100%’ version features a one-off Blue Candy carbon fibre tank, headlight nacelle, seat cowl and front mudguard. There’s also a white powder coated frame and an assortment of high spec details.

The belly pan, Öhlins forks and shock spring are ‘blacked out’, there’s a black-finished titanium Akrapovič exhaust. Carbon fibre engine covers, a chain guard and exhaust heat shield add further ‘limited edition’ appeal. There are also Gilles bar-end weights, plus oil and radiator caps.

Otherwise, the 123bhp FTR remains unchanged, using Brembo brakes, a four-inch TFT dash, three riding modes and more.

Just 400 examples of the ‘FTR x 100% R Carbon’ will be built with only 250 available outside the USA. Pricing has yet to be announced, with a range of matching clothing and accessories is also available.

Indian’s other big news for 2024 is another limited-edition machine, the new Challenger Elite.

Indian Challenger Elite

It’s a top spec version of the standard Challenger bagger and as such features ‘Charcoal Candy’ custom paint, a custom-stitched seat, electronically adjustable rear preload suspension, an adaptive LED headlight, LED riding and saddlebag lights, heated grips and more.

Powered by Indian’s most powerful, 120bhp PowerPlus V-twin, the Challenger Elite has been conceived to be ‘the ultimate American bagger’ (although we’re sure Harley’s latest CVO Road Glide would argue with that) with just 325 examples being built.

The Challenger Elite also debuts Indian’s updated PowerBand audio system, complete with four 100-watt speakers, two fairing speakers and two saddlebag speakers.

The next-generation system also features higher volume, increased clarity, more bass, and is available across a range of Indian’s machines.
