New commuter scooter: Lexmoto SRT 125 unveiled

Small-capacity bike specialists Lexmoto have revealed their Euro5 learner-friendly SRT scooter for 2023, and it’s yours for under £2200.

Designed as a no-nonsense commuter for getting from A to B, the £2179.99 scoot (minus OTR charges) produces an easy-going claimed 8.6bhp at 7500rpm from its air-cooled single-cylinder twist-and-go motor and is fed by a six-litre fuel tank.

Lexmoto say the 124cc four-stroke unit is capable of a top speed of 66mph, which sounds a little optimistic until you find out that it weighs just 115kg (claimed) ready to ride.

Up front, you get a set of non-adjustable telescopic forks, with twin rear shock absorbers. Stopping power is catered for with a single disc brake at the front and rear.

There’s some storage under the seat for your essentials although there’s no indication how many litres you get and given the scoot’s minimalist design, it’s unlikely to be much.

Riders can choose from two colour schemes, both based around a grey base with either red or fluro yellow accents. The red version gets black gloss on its 13-inch wheels whereas the yellow has Yamaha-aping yellow.
