Walker to ride in Weston Beach race

1 of 1

Chris Walker will ride in this year’s Weston Beach race on a 125cc KTM.

Walker knows what he’s doing off-road as he worked his way up through the motocross ranks before switching to Tarmac.

He said: ” The first time I did Weston was 10 years ago, on a Kawasaki 250, and I’ve done it a few times. I wanted to do it again in recent years but the season’s have never worked out right to do it.

” I’ve done a bit more dirt riding this year, so it seemed a good idea – I’ve got a few mates who are doing it as well. ”

Despite his undoubted skill on a bike, Walker doesn’t have any illusions about winning – ” You’re never going to win it on a 125, are you? ” – but just wants to have a bit of fun.

He added: ” When I did it before there were 500 people in the start. Now it’s up to 800 and that’s going to be pretty mad. I haven’t got my race number yet – I’m beginning to hope my entry will be rejected! ”

If you want to watch Walker in action, solos start at midday on Sunday, October 28. Entry costs a fiver – and there’s the sidecar and quad race 24 hours earlier.

And you can join the race, too. It costs £55 to enter and scrutineering is on the previous Friday, from 9am onwards. You can get an ACU licence on the day. For more details, call 01934-613629.
