Sean Emmett’s dream of winning the 2002 British Superbike title has taken a battering following the announcement this week that his IFC Ducati team had run out of cash.

For more details on Emmett’s future don’t miss the latest issue of MCN – out August 7.

But Emmett has sealed a deal with Rob McElnea’s Virgin Yamaha squad, and he’ll ride the rest of the season on an R1 alongside Steve Plater and Simon Crafar.

Emmett told MCN: ” IFC needs a sizeable injection of cash to continue and as things weren’t looking too rosy I had to find an alternative to keep my championship hopes alive. ”

He trails Steve Hislop in the MCN-backed series by just 11 points, with Hislop on 280.
