Jefferies’ British series hopes in jeopardy

Cash strapped TT star David Jefferies faces the prospect of being frozen out British superbikes next season.

Jefferies, 29, is hoping that the V&M team he raced for last year can raise the funds necessary to take him to BSB in 2002.

Jefferies said: ” I don’t think there are any other teams for me to look at. I don’t think any of the established teams will be looking at a guy like me as I haven’t been riding a superbike for a few seasons.

” Most of those guys don’t want to do the TT anyway, but it’s important to me. What I need is a package that allows me to do both the TT and BSB and V&M can provide me with that. One way or another I’ll be at the TT next season, now I need to get a British ride sorted out. ”

V&M boss Jack Valentine says that he is fully committed to getting the Jefferies on the grid but won’t cut corners to do so.
