Knockhill crash broke Hislop’s collarbone

Steve Hislop has definitely ruled himself out of a Brands Hatch WSB wildcard after tests discovered he’d broken his collarbone in Sunday’s MCN Knockhill BSB round.

You can read more about Hislop’s setback in the latest issue of MCN, out Wednesday July 10.

The Scot was skittled by Michael Rutter in a do-or-die manoeuvre on the last lap of race two. Rutter immediately apologised to the series leader in the medical centre and Hislop dismissed it as a racing incident. But X-rays have revealed that he has broken the same right collarbone he damaged at Rockingham last year – the crash that handed the title to John Reynolds.

The good news is that there’s a five week layoff until the next round at Thruxton on August 11 and Hislop is confident he can regain fitness by then.
