Carmichael magic in Southwick

1 of 1

Ricky Carmichael’s perfect season continued with two wins in Southwick, Massachussetts at the weekend. He now tops the AMA Motocross championship table with a faultless 200 points.

Yamaha’s Tim Ferry grabbed a brace of second places and leapfrogged Sebastien Tortelli to second place in the championship. Tortelli could only manage fifth, behind Kyle Lewis and Ezra Lusk.

In the 125cc events, Danny Smith profited from the bad fortune of both Chad Reed and James Stewart. They both crashed out of the first race, and although Reed dislocated his shoulder he bravely battled through the pack to take third in the second race.

Although Stewart won race two, Smith’s race two fifth was good enough to win overall.

Reed still leads the 125cc standings on 145 points, but is now only five points ahead of Stewart.
