Emmett romps to Snetterton double

1 of 1

Sean Emmett closed the gap on BSB series leader Steve Hislop today, with a sensational double victory at the super-fast Snetterton circuit.

Race one:

From the start Hislop took the lead, but before they’d even completed a lap, Paul Young crashed heavily on the fast Corum curve and the race was red flagged.

From the restart Michael Rutter led, but by lap five Hislop had passed him on the MonsterMob Ducati. Much worse was to come for Rutter, his Renegade Racing team mate Shane Byrne clipped his back wheel as he pulled out to overtake him at the end of the 170mph Revett Straight, sending them both out of the race. The pace car was brought out until the track could be swept clear of debris.

Emmett, on the IFC Racing Ducati, kept his concentration and picked off both Plater and Hislop as their tyres went off. Defending champion John Reynolds was second on the Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000 with Steve Plater on the Virgin Yamaha R1 claiming third

Afterwards Emmett told MCN: ” I kept looking at my boards at they kept reading ” Plus ome, plus one lap after lap. I knew to beat JR I had to keep my concentration and dig deep. ”

Reynolds said: ” I should be doing this every weekend. We need to start getting these results. ”

Race two:

Emmett got away quickly from pole, but it was Hislop who made the running until an oil spill brought the race to a halt on lap five.

After the re-start it was all Emmett, overtaking Hislop and leading the Scot by over two seconds at the flag.

John Reynolds was unable to repeat his success of the first face, crashing out on lap nine. But better fortunes for Michael Rutter, who recovered from his disappointment of the first race to take third spot.
