Robinson to ride Blade in BSB

Jamie Robinson will ride a Honda FireBlade in BSB this season after striking a last minute deal with the UK importers.

Robinson, 25, had been looking at running a Ducati or Suzuki in the series this year and it was only after speaking to Paul Bird, the man who runs Steve Hislop’s MonsterMob Ducati team and Honda’s official TT effort, that he considered the FireBlade option.

Within 24 hours of visiting Bird’s workshop in Preston, Robinson had agreed a deal with Honda bosses.

He said: ” I was sold within a few minutes of seeing the bike. I believe that having a good chassis will be more important the outright horsepower. The Honda will have enough power but the quality of the chassis looks absolutely amazing. ”

The former British 250 champion has secured backing from Honda UK and kit maker Spidi.

Robinson’s decision to run a Honda means that there will now be four FireBlades in the series. Matt Llewellyn and Gary Mason will ride for tuning specialists Motopower, while Lee Jackson will campaign a bike similar to Robinson’s.
