Indoor supercross venue to open in August

1 of 1

The UK’s first permanent indoor supercross track is heading for an August opening and we can now reveal its venue: It’ll be in Weston Super-Mare, Somerset.

Co-owner Shane Fenton says building work has begun on the assumption that planning permission is going to be granted within the next eight weeks. He and his partner Chris Bunce have been working closely with the local authorities to ensure everybody is happy.

The venue will be open to a limited number of off road race licence holders paying an annual fee for membership at the 35,000 square-foot ventilated indoor facility.

Adults will be charged £85 a year and children (those using bikes of up to 125cc) will pay £75 a year. On top of that you also pay a daily rate when you attend of £25 for adults and £20 for children. The venue will be open 10am-9pm every day (including most holidays). There will also be shops selling parts.

The business will be taking its first applications for membership in the next couple of weeks and anyone interested should call 0797-052-6588 or 0797-347-9701.

Fenton says after motorcyclenews.com broke news of the plans in February he had 250 calls within four days from all over the country. And they’ve carried on coming thick and fast since.

The track will be opened with a supercross show with some of the stars of the sport invited. Leading riders have also been consulted over plans for the lay-out of the track.
