The Carmichael and Stewart show continues

Ricky Carmichael claimed two wins at the Hangtown National Motocross, near Sacremento in California, to take his second overall win of the season.

The Honda rider claimed the first race after an early clash with with Stephane Roncada. The two clashed bars, but it was Carmichael who capitalised, while Roncada fell back through the field.

Carmichael’s second victory of the day came in difficult conditions, as rain soon made heavy going of the track. He took a the lead on lap four and never looked like being challenged by the second and third placed men, David Vuillemin and Tim Ferry.

In the 125s James Stewart echoed Carmichael’s efforts, with a clear victory in the first race, and a slightly slower climb to the lead in the second race.

Carmichael’s 100 per cent record over the four rounds means he extends his lead in the series to 18 points over nearest rival Ferry on 82 points.Stewart also leads the 125cc standings with 97 points to Grant Langston’s 77.

The championship moves to Highpoint in just one weeks time.
