Shane Byrne has been confirmed at MonsterMob Ducati for the 2003 British Superbike season.

Byrne, who finished fourth in the MCN-backed series this year, replaces title-winner Steve Hislop in the Paul Bird run squad as its solo BSB rider.

Byrne said: ” The opportunity to join the most successful squad in BSB at present was one I didn’t have to think twice about.

” I’ve been so excited about this since Paul Bird told me the deal was on and I’m confident we can have a very successful time next season. I can’t wait to start testing. ”

Stuart Easton, who won the Supersport title for MonsterMob in 2002 will defend the title he won, again on a Ducati 748.

Announcing his squad, Bird re-iterated his desire to take the squad to World Superbikes. He said: ” This is the start of our three-year plan to take some very good, and in particular, young British riders into the world championship.

” Both Shane and Stuart have talent in abundance and I see no reason why both shouldn’t make it to the very top. ”
