Lampkin takes sixth trials title

Dougie Lampkin took his sixth outdoor trials championship in Japan on Saturday.

He wrapped up the championship with a safe second place behind Honda teammate Takahashi Fujinami, at a rain-soaked Twin Ring Motegi, before celebrating in style on Sunday with a win. He also suffered his biggest crash of the season on Sunday, leaving him with a deep gash in his leg and some damage to his right ankle.

The title brings him closer to beating Jordi Tarres record of seven world outdoor championships.

The final championship standing are: 1. Lampkin 187, 2. Fujinami 157, 3. Cabestany 150, 4. Raga 124, 5. Cobos 100.
