Willoughby teenager Peter Hickman (16) secured three top ten results in his races at Cadwell Park on Sunday, scoring a fifth and sixth in the Aprilia Superteen series and a strong ninth in the MRO Supersport 400 race.

Peter qualified for a second row start to his set of two Superteen races on Sunday morning and took his place on the grid for leg one as eighth fastest competitor.

As the race got underway Peter settled into fourth place before dropping back to fifth and coming under pressure from the Lowes twins who powered past at Mansfield on lap two.

Undeterred Hicky moved back ahead of Sam Lowes one lap later and held his place to the finish to collect 11 championship points.

Race two saw Peter set off well and settle into sixth place before dropping back to ninth at the end of the opening lap. Peter managed to move ahead of Kev Coglan to eventually cross the line in sixth place and move into eighth position in the standings on 50 points.

In between the two Aprilia Superteen races Peter found time to compete on the Hawk Kawasaki 400cc machine in the third round of the MRO Supersport 400 where he started his race from row four of the grid after qualifying as 13th fastest.

As the lights went out to herald the start of the 14 lap affair Hicky shot off the line to a lightening start being 10th around Coppice dropping back to 11th behind Neil Muirhead who handed him the position on a plate when he crashed out on lap five.

There was a huge gap between Hicky and Simon Gates who was running in eighth spot but the young county rider remained calm and gradually began to reduce the deficit. Sadly he ran out of time and crossed the finish line just four seconds behind Gates to take ninth place and pick up a further seven championship points.

This result puts Peter up to eighth place in the overall standings and he will be looking for further improvement at Brands Hatch in the next round on Whit Monday, May 26.

” I am quite happy with all three results today, ” said Peter. ” I am faster than last time out on the 400 machine and when the engine is tuned up we hope to get more from the bike.

” The Superteen championship is going ok. I went round both races without a hitch. The only problem I have is the Lowes twins who seem to keep beating me! ” laughed Peter.
