Superbike stars tackle supermoto’s best

The eight round, MCN-backed British Supermoto Championship ignites this weekend at Lydd International Raceway on the Kent coast with superbike star James Haydon on a Bracken KTM in both the 450 and Open categories.

Haydon, who has never competed in the sport before, managed two hours testing on Monday. ” I got the chance to ride with Ady Smith who, to be honest was a bit quicker than me ” , said Haydon. ” He looked so graceful backing his KTM into turns it was a pleasure to watch! ”

Haydon’s team-mate will be another road race star, Terry Rymer, who has just completed the winter series for the Bracken squad. Rymer, an ex-World Champion in gruelling 24 hour endurance racing, is getting quicker all the time at this new and exciting sport. But the two road racers are under no illusion that things are going to be easy. The rest of the entry list is a who’s who of British Supermoto talent. Honda, Yamaha, Husqvarna, Husaberg, Vertemati and VOR will all be fielding their best at Lydd, the country’s leading supermoto venue.

Lydd International raceway is at Dengemarsh Road, Lydd, Kent, TN29 9JH, just off the A259 Hastings to Folkestone road.
