BSB double for Rutter

1 of 1

Michael Rutter and Glen Richards dominated an accident filled Mallory Park round of British Superbikes with Rutter taking both wins and Richards two second places.

Rutter took an easy win in the first race beating Richards to the line by more than 6 seconds after a restarted race but race two saw a slightly closer afair with Rutter crossing the line under a second ahead of Richards after two red flags.

Leon Haslam took the final place on the podium in race one with Gregorio Lavilla proving it was a good move for Airwaves Ducati to take him on full time by taking third in Race two.

The first race put under the safety car after Lavilla and Karl Harris came together on the second lap.

Kiyonari was leading the race behind the pace car but lost control of his bike and hit the tyre wall, knocking himself out. He recovered qucikly but had to sit out the second race.

The second race was even more dramatic with two stoppages after accidents. Firstly the pace car came out when someone highsided, then Tommy Hill and Danny Beaumont crashed causing the red flag to come out. Then Michael Pensavalle’s Kawasaki ZX-10R blew it’s engine in the final corner and spread oil down the entire start finish straight causing the race to be red flagged again. The final stint saw a 12 lap sprint ot the finish.

Jeremy McWilliams continued his dismal run in British Superbikes by failing to finish either race.
