Shane Byrne has called his first ride on the 2006 Rizla Suzuki a success, despite chrasing twice.

The former British Superbike champion completed two days of testing at Almerica in Spain on December 19-20. On the first day, rain drenched the track, but Bryne braved the conditions to reacquaint himself with a superbike, riding the 2005 machine. He fell twice, but was unhurt both times.

The second day saw him start out on the 2005 machine before switching to the 2006 model and completing nearly 60-laps.

“The test has been blinding – absolutely mega. i’m really happy with the progress we made and only wish I was staying on for more riding,” said byrne.

“It was my first time on a Superbike and on Dunlop tyres for the last two years. Particularly in the the morning, I was riding the GSX-R1000 like a MotoGP bike and I had to change my riding style slightly. Once adapted, i got on well with the current bike before switching to the new development 2006 GSX-R1000.”
