Dougie Lampin took third at the St Petersburg round of the World Indoor Trails Championship on Saturday, February 12.

The British multiple champion narrowly missed on on second place, contesting the position until the end of the final. This leaves him in third place in the world championship, 10 points behind Albert Cabestany, and 27 points behind championship leader and St Peterburg winner Adam Raga.

Team-mate Takahisa Fujinama missed out on the final due to a couple of mistakes, as did fellow Montesa rider Mac Freixa.

“I’m very satsified with my first lap, but I made a mistake in the second zone of the finala nd I think this mistake was decisive,” said Lampkin. “In the last timed zone I had a chance to do it, but a second mistake left everything as it was. But with a tough season and the development of the new 4-stroke engine, the overall results is positive.”
