Reynolds breaks leg

British Superbike champion John Reynolds has broken his leg during testing at Valencia just five weeks before the start of the season.

Reynolds’ Rizla Suzuki team had gone to the Spanish circuit to test the new 2005 GSX-R1000 but the current British champion slid off his bike at turn six on the first day of testing, braking both the Tibia and Fibula in his right leg.

Reynolds was immeditatelty rushed to hospital where he is undergoing treatment to set the break. No comment has been made as to whether he will be fit for the start of the season but the accident means he will miss the rest of the pre-season testing.

Those duties will now fall to new team member Scott Smart who claimed to have a good test despite his partners missfortune.

Smart spent most of the first day adjusting the bike to fit him as he is a little larger than the size of rider the bike was set up for. But finished the second positive that the bike is as good as he expected it to be. Smart also managed to crash on the same corner but was lucky enough to escape uninjured.
