Carmichael romps home

Suzuki rider Ricky Carmichael won by 20 seconds in Saturday night’s third round of the THQ World Supercross Championship.

45,000 saw him romp home at Angel Stadium, Anaheim,California.

The 25-year-old led from the start of the 250cc Main event and lapped more than half the field after reigning AMA Supercross champ Chad Reed crashed on lap five.

Reed remounted to finish a distant second ahead of Kevin Windham, Mike Larocco and Jeremy McGrath.

Carmichael now leads the AMA series on 70 points and the 18-round THQ World Supercross series.

Former Supercross king McGrath – out of retirement for this season – battled his way past Michael Byrne just before the first whoop section on lap seven to take over third place.
