French MX wins for KTM

1 of 1

Round nine of the World Motocross championship took place at St Jean d’Angely in France, with KTM factory riders taking wins in both MX1 and MX2 classes. British rider Carl Nunn also put his KTM on the podium for the first time since the French round in 2000.

The MX1 event was won by Ben Townley. The first Moto saw Townley recover from a mediocre start to pass Joel Smets, Josh Copiins, Mickael Pichon and Stefan Everts to take the win. The second race saw an easier time with Townley moving into the lead on the second corner as championship leader Everts crashed out to restart last and eventually claim seventh at the chequered flag.

In MX2, David Philippaerts took the overall win and the first moto victory. Britian’s Carl Nunn managed fifth in the first race before taking a fantastic second in the second Moto and finished the day third overall.
