McGuinness' TT win

John McGuinness has taken the win in the first solo race at the 2005 Isle of Man TT.

The Superbike TT was postponed from Saturday becuase of mist and rain but the weather held out for the rescheduled Sunday race with almost perfect conditions letting the Yamaha rider lead the race from start to finish.

By the end of the first lap McGuinness had drawn out a lead of over 9 seconds and he eventually went on to win the six lap race by more that 34 seconds over second placed man Suzuki rider Adrian Archibald.

Second place was being strongly held by Richard Britton but he was forced to retire on lap four leaving the way clear for Archibald and promoting Martin Finnegan to third.

Ryan Farquhar had a bad race with his Kawasaki giving up just three miles in.

The riders will be back out Monday morning for the Superstock TT followed by the Junior Supersport TT after lunch.
