Bruce Anstey took victory in the TT Superstock race, but only after leader Adrian Archibald ran out of fuel.

The race took place on Monday, June 6, 2005, with Anstey winning with a time of 54 minutes, 39.74 seconds, at an average speed of 124.242 miles an hour. He finished in front of Ian Lougher who averaged 122.894 mph. Ryan Farquhar took third, just two second behind Lougher, with a speed of 122.853mph.

The first notable retirement was John McGuinness, who toured round part of the first lap, while Adrian Archibald blazed away into the lead with a lap of 125.71 mph and a five second advantage over Bruce Anstey. Archibald led by 13 seconds by Ramsey hairpin on lap two, and achieved a second lap speed of 126.641. But on the final lap Archibald ran out of fuel with a lead of 18 seconds, and was deemed to have retired when he took on fuel with the help of a spectator on the mountain section.

Anstey admitted afterwards,” He had me beaten.”

Two riders crashed at Glentramman, Paul Duckett and Phil Stewart, and both were taken to hospital with arm injuries.

Nigel Davies, a faller during the Superbike race on Sunday, sustained a fractured femur but is said to be comfortable in hospital. Sidecar passenger Paul Sanderson has now been discharged, while another passenger, Phillip Roberts, is set to be released on Tuesday, June 7, 2005.
