Coppins wins Brit MX title

1 of 1

Josh Coppins won his 10th successive race at Matchams Park on Sunday to claim the British MX1 Motocross championship for the second year in a row.

The 2005 champion won both motos, taking the wins by over 30 seconds in each race. Title rival Paul Cooper did his best to challenge with two second places, finishing the season as championship runner-up. Fellow Honda rider James Noble came into the meeting just three points behind Coppins, but a third position in the first Moto was followed by a seventh after a first corner fall, a collision with a backmarker, and a further fall on the last lap. He still retained third place in the championship, to give Honda the top three positions.

Carl Nunn had already sealed the MX2 title at the previous round, and settled for second place behind Billy Mackenzie following two race-long duels. Gareth Swanepoel finished third overall.
