Who's at Grass Track?

Anne Widdecombe MP was the unlikely guest of honour at the British Masters Grass Track Championships at Northiam, East Sussex on Sunday, September 18, 2005.

Invited by the Maidstone Aces MCC, Widdecombe arrived for the start of the meeting, and presented trophies to both class winners.

“I was delighted that Ann agreed to visit the Masters,” said the ACU’s Tony Neal. “It shows the interest she has in her local consituency. She happily chatted to spectators and competitors throughout the day and seemed to enjoy the excitement of the racing. Although the presentations were delayed by two hours, Ann remained truly interested throughout the day and was happy to stay until the Championship winners were decided.”

The MP for Maidtsone and The Weald was doubtless happy to present Paul Hurry from Maidstone with the British Masters solo trophy. Rob Wilson from Headcorn in Kent and Ian Whale from Crawley were crowned British Masters Sidecar Champions.
