Haslam on Thruxton pole

Leon Haslam has put his Airwaves Ducati on pole for the Bank Holiday Monday round of the British Superbike championship.

Haslam lapped the Thurxton circuit in 1:14.626, putting himself first on the grid. Second will be HM Plant Honda’s Karl Harris with a time of 1:15.185. Championship leader Gregorio Lavilla will start from third place with 1:51.219, with Dean Thomas fourth quickest. Superbike Cup privateer James Buckingham qualified well in 11th place on the Quay Garage Racing Honda.

Harris, Lavilla and Haslam had topped the third three practice on Sunday morning, with Dean Thomas fifth.

In British Supersport, Leon Camier will start from pole position with a first qualifying session time of 1:16.987. Eugene Laverty took second place on the grid with a second session time of 1:16.996, just ahead of Stuart Easton and Cal Crutchlow. Dennis Hobbs is fifth fastest.

The front row of the Virgin Mobile Cup is Matthew Whitman, Tom Grant, James Webb and Graeme Gowland.
