The Airwaves Ducati team of Leon Haslam and 2005 British Superbike champion Gregorio Lavilla completed four days of testing at the Kyalami circuit in South Africa on February 23.

In preparation for the 2006 season they racked up 2000km between them.

Both riders got the chance to build their confidence on the 2006 Ducati 999 F’06 machines they’ll ride in the British series, in dry amd warm conditions. Halsam rode 1176km on the 4.263km circuit and Lavillia completed 988km.

The fastest time was Haslam’s with a 1:41.90 lap, with Lavilla recording 1:42.20. Both riders completed a race simulation at a fast enough pace to win the Kyalami round of the 2002 WSB championship.

“We are in a good place considering it is only our second test. Both riders are happy with their bikes and the team is working really well,” said team boss Colin Wright. “We’re all looking forward to getting to Almeria in a couple of weeks for the next test.”

Airwaves Ducati will travel to Almeria for the third pre-season test on March 10-13, 2006.
