Dakar: Stage 4

1 of 1

Isidre Esteve Pujol has won the fourth stage of the Dakar coming from a 19th place start to take the fastest time of the day.

The KTM rider took advantage of the fact that it is much faster to follow than to lead, with the front riders having to do all the navigation while the later riders can just follow their dust and tracks to ride at a much faster pace.

Fellow KTM rider Marc Coma used the same tactics to get himself in to the overall lead of the rally.

First non-KTM was Yamaha rider David Fretigne in seventh.

Brti Mick Extance dropped 50 places to finish the stage in 90th, putting him in 53rd overall, while Charley Boorman finished 154th leaving him 135th overall.
